Process Cast Stone
Similar to natural stone but far less expensive, cast
stone has proved to be an extremely attractive and popular
material with architects and construction designers for
walling and architectural dressings to all types of
buildings - commercial, industrial and domestic
housing. The 'dry cast' stone method is a two part process, backed by concrete which is compressed behind the facing mix to give it more strength in terms of handleability. It is generally not considered to be a structural material and is mechanically bonded, one compacted into the other. The high quality 'wet cast' stone which the company produces is more durable and used in many of the major contracts the company undertakes, such as their current involvement in the construction of the new Leeds Grammar School. It has also been used extensively on all the schools and extensions on which the company has been contracted to work on behalf of the Leeds Design Consultancy for Leeds city council. Grit stone, acid etched wet cast stone has been used by the company on a total of seventeen schools over the past seven years. Precast Concrete The 'precast concrete' products cover a wide range of uses, several of them incorporated into the ten per cent of our business dedicated to the domestic market, including fencing posts, path edging, coping and pillar caps etc. The Process
Woodside have developed a flexibility second to none.
This enables them to go from wet or dry cast stone to
concrete products for stadiums, through to fence posts,
copings and pillar caps, with weight differential from
twenty tonne products down to a few kilogrammes for
domestic housing products. Woodside are currently
advertising standard cast stone dressing for the housing
market. With an annual turnover of £1million plus, employing a total of thirty five personnel, and fully computerised, Woodside Concrete is a small, modern company with lots of potential. A member of the UK Cast Stone Association, an association which demands stringent quality levels and the ability to achieve and maintain certain standards, the company manufactures products to BS1217 Grade A in terms of strength and its ability to resist moisture. "We are very high on quality and operate a keen price structure - our quality system is designed to meet the requirements of BS5750."
Our order book is full for the foreseeable future and we
are obliged to operate a seven day week. This faith in
our broad customer base gives us an indication of the
high quality levels we have been able to
realise over the past fifteen years, and gives us a
certain amount of satisfaction in the knowledge that
we are giving our customers what they require. The level of quality, both in our product and service, has led us from one successful contract to another - the high standard of our overall operation being the best advertising tool that we could wish for. |
